A Little TLC
For the past week and a half, I've been the walking dead warmed up with a horrible cold. But as there was no rest for the weary, I forced myself to go to work every day. I'm just now starting to feel slightly human again and I couldn't help but think- if I would have just taken a day or two off, would I have felt better sooner?
So often we're busy working hard, playing hard, or taking care of others that we forget to take a little time out for ourselves. We should each carve out a little time each day or each week for a little self-care time. I know it might be a hard thing to do, but I think that if we do, we'll feel better in the long run.
Being a list maker, I've thought of a few self-care TLC things to do that might just help you too!

Devices Off!
Schedule a time every day where there's no distraction. A time with no TV, smart phone, music, etc. may be a hard thing to do, but I think it's well worth it. A little time without a constant distraction will definitely help you relax.
Take a Walk!
Literally. I'm a big believer in the power of walking. Whether it's out in nature, in your neighborhood, or on a treadmill, walking boosts endorphins and clears your head. This could also count as your devices off time- just remember to take your phone with you if you go out for a hike! Safety first, you know...
Decaffeinate
I would be completely lost without my morning and afternoon coffee, but all other times, I'm a big fan of caffeine free herbal teas. They have fantastic flavor and they force me to sit and relax.
Let's Detox
Although I don't buy into the hype of detox pills and teas, I love a good detox bath. It helps clear the mind and helps to sweat out any toxins that may be building in the body. My personal favorite is technically a cold and flu detox bath, but I like to do this any time I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Just dissolve Epsom salt, baking soda, and powdered ginger into warm water and soak for about 20 minutes. The ginger will seriously make you sweat, though, so be sure to stay hydrated after.
Whatever route you decide to take for a little TLC, I hope you do it often. You deserve a little time to yourself!
